Default: land_use
Dataset to retrieve. 'land_use' is land by major use, region, and State for Census of Agriculture benchmark years 1945-2017. 'cropland_used_for_crops' is the national annual cropland-used-for-crops series, 1910 to the current year.
land_use: str | None | list[str | None]
Description
Land use category(ies) to retrieve, as a comma-separated list. Only applies when table='land_use'; if None, all categories are returned. Valid categories are:
cropland_idled, cropland_used_for_crops, cropland_used_for_pasture, defense_and_industrial, farmsteads_roads_and_miscellaneous_farmland, forest_use_land, grassland_pasture_and_range, grazed_forest_use_land, miscellaneous_other_land, rural_parks_and_wildlife, rural_transportation, special_uses, total_cropland, total_land, ungrazed_forest_use_land, urban_areas Multiple items allowed.
geography: str | None | list[str | None]
Description
Geography(ies) to retrieve, as a comma-separated list of State names, farm production region names, '48 States', or 'U.S. total'. Only applies when table='land_use'; if None, all geographies are returned. Valid geographies are:
48 States, Alabama, Alaska, Appalachian, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Corn Belt, Delaware, Delta States, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Lake States, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Mountain, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Northeast, Northern Plains, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pacific, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Southeast, Southern Plains, Tennessee, Texas, U.S. total, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming Multiple items allowed.
start_year: int | None
Start year for filtering the data. None returns from the beginning of the series.
end_year: int | None
End year for filtering the data. If None, returns up to the most recent year.

geography: str
Geography of the observation: a State name, a farm production region name, '48 States', or 'U.S. total' for the land_use table; 'United States' for the annual table.
land_use: str
Land use category of the observation. For the land_use table, one of the 16 category slugs; for the annual table, one of: total_crops_harvested, double_cropped, cropland_harvested, crop_failure, cultivated_summer_fallow, total_cropland_used_for_crops.
region: str | None
Farm production region the State belongs to. None for regional and national aggregate rows.
